The UNE-EN 17100:2015 standards were the first in Europe and establish the requirements for the provision of quality services by service providers. It covers the entire translation process, proofreading, project management, quality assurance and specifies requirements and personnel.
It is estimated that there are around 700 translation companies in Spain, but the number is reduced to a little more than thirty, once narrowed down to companies with a certified quality assurance system according to the ISO 9001 and a certified service system according to the stringent European standards for translation service providers, UNE-EN 17100:2015.
